Santiago is one of the most popular destinations for Catholic pilgrims across the world. It is the capital of Galicia (Spain), and is the site of the Cathedral of Santiago (1075 – 1128), where the remains of Santiago Apostolico can be founded. The Routes of Santiago are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are used by thousands of people every day on the journey to the religious capital of the Iberian Peninsula. On our tour we will dedicate the morning to visiting the cathedral, and after lunch we will stroll through the medieval city of Santiago, discovering some secrets in its narrow streets.
On the return there is also a stop in Valença do Minho, the Portuguese border city in the far north. Here we will focus our visit on the fortification with roots from the 12th century and visible reconstruction from the 18th century. A unique view over the city, River Minho (natural border) and the Spanish side.
